Marvel Chief Kevin Feige recently admitted that Marvel is returning to San Diego Comic-Con, even revealing that âThe Fantastic Fourâ will start production on the Monday after Comic-Con weekend, July, 25-28. But itâs a slow Friday, a day for rumors so letâs take a look at what the Interwebz is saying.
For the most part, the sentiment seems to be that Marvel is going to really try and bring it and deliver a lot. Another rumor suggestsâand this makes a lot of sense, honestlyâ that Marvel will only promote movies and announce new ones and save TV and Disney+ content for D23 in August. That tracks, you want to have something left over for D23. But hey, letâs take a look at what theyâll announce and what theyâll promote.
âDeadpool & Wolverineâ
First off, thereâs the obvious. Shawn Levyâs âDeadpool & Wolverineâ comes out the very same weekend as Comic-Con which is odd timing, but nonetheless, theyâll surely have something, whether its Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds coming out to say thank you to the fans or maybe a fun deleted scene or something. That said, the film will have just come out and those many cameo spoilers may have not been revealed yet because not everyone will have seen the movie yet, so they may need to be careful and quiet. Also, if Jackman and Reynolds go out to theaters to surprise fans, maybe theyâll only be able to deliver a video message or a thank you. Regardless, some kind of probable thank you to fans, presuming itâs gonna be a blockbuster in at the box office.

âCaptain America: Brave New Worldâ
The Anthony Mackie-starring âCaptain America: Brave New Worldâ comes next on February 14, 2025, so itâs almost a guarantee theyâll either unveil the first teaser trailer or footage from the movie. Theyâll probably pull back the curtain on the plot a little bit, potentially reveal who Giancarlo Esposito is playing. Maybe for the audience in San Diego, theyâll play a scene too.
âThunderbolts*â
Marvelâs anti-villains film âThunderbolts*â (with a purposeful asterisk in the title to indicate thatâs what the team is named⌠for now), arrives after that on May 2, 2025. Itâs probably too early for an official teaser trailer, they want to save that for âBrave New Worldâ as they focus on pushing one film at a time in order, but itâs very likely weâll get some official first looks and photos and perhaps confirmation of some of the characters that actors are playing (like Lewis Pullman as Sentry, even if Marvel hasnât officially confirmed it yet).
âFantastic Fourâ
Like Feige already said, the movie doesnât even start until after Comic-Con starts so there wonât be a second of footage to show off. But expect more posters and concept art, perhaps a reveal of who some of the supporting cast is playing and probably all the major players from the film to come and discuss it and tease some plot points (like the fact that itâs a 1960s period piece, but set in an alternate universe where the 1960s was way more futuristic at the time; like the imagined, idealistic space-age retro-futurism of the 1950s and the notion of flying cars right around the corner). The film is currently dated for July 25, 2025.
âBladeâ
Currently dated for November 2025, thatâs most certainly not happening. âBladeâ recently lost its director, and the trades reported its going through rewrites again this summer and then Marvel Studios will be on the hunt for a new director. That pretty much squashes the rumors that âBladeâ is shooting this fall. Marvel and Disneyâs Bob Iger have already said theyâre moving back to a world where they are going to scale back to 2-3 movies a year, so âBlade,â which would have been the fourth movie of 2025 would have been moving regardless. The optimists think Marvel will reveal a new director at Comic-Con, but I think, at best, youâre getting a new release date, potentially in 2026.
âSpider-Man 4â
Donât expect anything. âSpider-Manâ movies are produced by Marvel, but are distributed and owned by Sony. Marvel has never had a Tom Holland-led âSpider-Manâ movie at Comic-Con because itâs technically not theirs. And it said that Sony wonât be at SDCC24, so donât expect any updates unless that changes.
âAvengers: Kang Dynastyâ
Scheduled for May 1, 2026, weâll probably only get small teases of information from âKang Dynasty.â One solid bet is probably a new title to shy away from Kang, and maybe re-casting news for the character who is said to still be part of the movie, but dialed back in importance. If weâre super lucky, you might get a director announcementâShawn Levy is rumored to be at the forefrontâbut it really depends if theyâre ready to make that announcement and a deal has been done. Maybe weâll get a small tease about what the movie is about, but one suspects all the 2024 and 2025 movies will inform that plot so, we might not get much.
2026 and Beyond
Currently Marvelâs 2026 ofifically ooks like this:
2/13/26 Disney UNTITLED MARVEL
5/1/26 Disney AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY
7/24/26 Disney UNTITLED MARVEL
11/6/26 Disney UNTITLED MARVEL
Thatâs four movies, so we know at least one of those dates is dropping and probably the November one.
Whatâs taking that slot? Well, âBladeâ seems like its taking one of those slots since it wonât be ready for 2025 and other potential rumored projects that should be ready soon are âShang Chi 2.â If you believe the online rumors we might get news of a âMidnight Sonâ and âYoung Avengersâ movie, but it wouldnât surprise me if they did that, you wouldnât get more than âhey, weâre planning on making these movies with no release dates.â I would slow the brakes on things like âDoctor Strange 3â and âBlack Panther 3â they sound like theyâre aways off and might even arrive after âSecret Warsâ in 2027. âX-Menâ should get a mention too, but donât be surprised if itâs little more than, âwe have a writer and weâre working on itâ (and itâs said to arrives after the âSecret Warsâ and the end of the Multiverse Saga, so 2027 or 2028 might be the earliest)
TV has lots of possibilities that could be mentioned in passing. Clearly âDaredevil: Born Againâ and âIronheartâ will be the two Disney+ shows for 2025 and âWonder Manâ and âVisionQuestâ will be the shows for 2026. A âBlonde Phantomâ show is rumored too, so maybe weâll get a brief mention. We might get one of those big impressive timelines that gives an indication of when everything will arrive, but theyâll probably save more of the details for D23 as suggested. All for now.
