As was the case for film, July is a bit of a mixed bag for television in terms of genre and types of series being released. There are three adult animated series, one of which is a sequel and the others spinoffs. It’s a big month for Apple TV+ as the streamer is poised to premiere four new original series, while other services, such as Netflix, are more focused on reality television.
Natalie Portman makes her way to television with “Lady In The Lake” while the cult-favorite series “Snowpiercer” gets its much-awaited final season on a new network. From science-fiction to crime thrillers, here’s everything coming out in July.

“Sunny”
Rashida Jones stars in the latest Apple TV+ series “Sunny.” Created by Katie Robbins and based on the novel “The Dark Manual” by Colin O’Sullivan, the series follows a woman whose husband and son vanished in a plane crash. The series twist comes when she’s given a domesticated robot from her husband’s robotics company. The dark comedy also stars Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Annie the Clumsy, You, Judy Ongg, and Jun Kunimura.
Release Date: The series premieres July 10 on Apple TV+.
“Sausage Party: Foodtopia”
A sequel to the R-rated animated film,” Sausage Party: Foodtopia,” the series takes place after the movie’s events as the characters try to establish a safe haven for themselves away from humans, titled “Foodtopia.” Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Conrad Vernon return as creators of the series, developed by Kyler Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholts, and Edward Norton all reprise their roles.
Release Date: The series premieres July 11 on Prime Video.
“The Serpent Queen”
Samantha Morton stars as Catherine de Medici, the 16th-century Queen of France, in “The Serpent Queen.” Season two brings in Minnie Driver, who will play the Virgin Queen, Elizabeth I. The period drama is created by Justin Haythe and based on Leonie Frieda’s 2004 book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France.
Release Date: Season 2 premieres July 12 on Starz.
“Hit-Monkey” Season 2
The adult animated comedy series “Hit-Monkey” returns for its second season. Created by Will Speck and Josh Gordon and based on the Marvel comics of the same name, the series follows a Japanese macaque who, while mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, travels from Tokyo to New York City. Ally Maki, Olivia Munn, Fred Tatasciore, and Jason Sudeikis star, with Leslie Jones and Cristin Milloti joining season two.
Release Date: Season 2 premieres July 15 on Hulu.
